5 Vital Questions to Ask a Prospective Heating Oil Company

If you’re on the market for a new home heating oil provider, look no further than OK Petroleum. Since 1976, this family-owned and operated fuel company been meeting the heating oil needs of Long Islanders. Offering competitive prices, reliable service, and convenience, OK Petroleum will make sure your home or business is always safe and warm.

You depend on heating oil to keep your home or business comfortable all year long. There may be a lot of heating oil companies on Long Island, but unfortunately, many of them don’t live up to the promises they make. Too many times, customers are overcharged, they receive inferior products, or they are left in the cold when their oil company is running late on a scheduled delivery.

To ensure you get the services you need and a high-quality product at prices you can afford, don’t just settle for the first oil company you find. To find a reputable supplier, contact several companies and ask the following questions before you make you decide who will be delivering your oil.

How long have you been in business?

Heating oil companies won’t stay in business for long if they aren’t reliable. The amount of time a fuel oil provider has been in business is a great indication of the type of services they offer. If they’ve been in business for decades, it’s a pretty safe bet that they’re dependable.

Are your prices stable?

Home heating oil prices do fluctuate. That’s because the cost is dependent on crude oil, which changes almost daily. However, reliable fuel oil companies will monitor fluctuations in the market to keep their prices as stable as possible so they can provide their customers with the best prices.

If a company’s prices are constantly changing and those changes are drastic, keep shopping around.

Do you offer a service contract?

Your heating system is constantly working to keep you warm, which means that it’s susceptible to a lot of wear and tear. That wear and tear can affect the efficiency of the system, which not only impacts the comfort of your property, but the amount of fuel it burns through.

A reputable fuel oil company will offer a service contract. Though the agreements of the contract will vary, generally, it includes regular heating system inspections and tune-ups. With a service contract, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the maintenance and repairs for your heating system will be taken care of.

Are emergency services offer?

Even if your heating system is regularly maintained and you have a regular schedule for oil deliveries, emergencies can happen. A reliable heating oil company will offer emergency services, including deliveries and repairs. Should you run out of fuel in the wee hours of the morning or your heating system starts acting up on the weekend, if an oil company offers emergency services, it can prevent you and your family from being seriously inconvenienced.

Are you fully insured?

Heating oil delivery companies are legally required to be insured; however, many suppliers only carry the bare minimum. A reliable heating oil company will be fully insured, including liability and workers’ compensation coverage. If an employee of the company is injured on your property or causes damage to your property, you won’t be liable for the cost.

You want to make sure that you’re heating oil comes from a reliable source. The answers to the above questions will say a lot about the reputation of a fuel delivery company. If you’re looking for a heating oil company on Long Island, OK Petroleum will answer all of these questions with a solid score. Contact them today to learn more about their oil delivery services.

Some information about Nesconset, NY

Nesconset is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Smithtown, located in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, United States. The population was 13,387 at the 2010 census.

Prior to contemporary settlement, a sparse population of farmers were lived near Lake Ronkonkoma. A primitive road network existed as Gibbs Pond Road, Browns Road, Old Nichols Road, Townline Road and the predecessor of Smithtown Boulevard. In 1904, brothers and French immigrants Louis and Clemen Vion came to the Pine Barrens of southeastern Smithtown from Manhattan on numerous occasions as sportsmen. By 1910, the brothers fell a line of trees off of Gibbs Pond Road immediately south of modern-day NY-347 to create Midwood Avenue. They built their home on this street where it still present.

As the population grew, a lumber yard, general store, and post office were constructed in 1908. The historic Nesconset Schoolhouse was built in 1910 and the Nesconset Fire Department was built by 1935, A commercial center emerged where Lake Avenue South and Gibbs Pond Road meet. The brothers decided to name the newly established settlement after Smithtown’s local historical figure, Nasseconsett, who deeded the Nissequogue people’s land to Richard Smith. Later development was concentrated on Lake Avenue South, Southern Boulevard and the Lake Ronkonkoma area along Gibbs Pond Road in the form of summer residences.

By 1930, Nesconset had a population of 50 people along Lake Avenue and spread along Smithtown Boulevard and Gibbs Pond Road. The construction of NY-347 in the 1950s opened the southeast corner of Smithtown to rapid residential development to Storybook Homes by bisecting the small center of the hamlet. This forced the shift of the commercial center of Nesconset to Smithtown Boulevard between Old Nichols Road and Southern Boulevard. This area was known formerly as East Hauppauge.
